Davis Thurber
Davis originally hails from Nashua, a town on the southern border of New Hampshire. He spent his early years entrenched in the study of athletics and music. Playing guitar since the age of 9, and
bass since the age of 15, Davis continued his musical interests in college earning a BA in Music from Boston College. SInce the age of 5, Davis has been playing all sorts of sports. In high school at Phillips Academy, he played three varsity sports - baseball, basketball, and football - and at Boston College he was a cheerleader for the football and basketball teams.
Since 2004, after being a very active musician and athlete, Davis has submerged himself in the study of Lindy Hop - the oldest authentic American partner dance. His accomplishments include several titles in international competitions. Especially interesting is the large amount of Jack’n'Jill titles, which present his skills as a leader and couple dancer. We’ll let one of his students speak on that subject: “Whenever I have lessons with Davis, I get a ton of compliments on the social dance floor soon after — and then I’m always asked who my teacher is. I tell them to go to Davis.” - Samantha Singer (Lindy Hopper, Boston)
Having started his dance career in Boston, MA, Davis has since moved to Pittsburgh, PA. He is currently traveling the world teaching Lindy Hop, Charleston, Vernacular Jazz, Balboa, and Blues. Davis was thrilled to have the opportunity to perform Hellzapoppin at Frankie 95 with the Ninjammerz and is now very excited to officially be part of the team.
